Artist Pam Ginn will be working alongside Highgate Brewery and the Walsall community. The construction will take place with the consultation and kind generosity of materials, and products provided by Highgate Brewery. Walsall Community ‘Friends of Highgate Brewery Association’ will also be working with the artist on the design as well as physically building the installation.

The ale installation will be showcased within Walsall on completion July 21st - 24th and then exhibited in Birmingham City Centre at MADE 26th July - 2nd August.

From August 2007 onwards the Ale installation will then be apart of CAMRA (campaign for real ale) beer and folk festivals touring the UK.

Concept: Artist Pam Ginn was inspired by witnessing many ‘private view’ audiences failing to interact with the art being exhibited.

The artist devised the Ale installation hoping to encourage audiences to connect with work being shown. Pam Ginn also has a keen interest in the community spirit generated by the ‘old brewery days’. Often whole families and communities worked together at the breweries, forming a strong community around it. The artist has researched documents and photography reflecting this era.

At a time when our cities are being remodelled into 21st century centres of urban chic, the ale installation takes us back in time to expose the grain of a more traditional working/life experience.
