Kipepeo Arts are a cross disciplinary arts organisation headed by recent graduates Natalie Wilson and Katharine Kavanagh. With a focus on performance and participation, they aim to inspire wonder and provoke creative thought in communities and public spaces, whilst raising awareness of ecological challenges.
Through performance and installation, saturated in a soundtrack of real Birmingham life-stories, we invite you to explore the forgotten riches of Birmingham City’s streets, creating a monument to the things we’ve loved and lost and hope still to find.
Belongings is an interactive event created in response to the disused and discarded items of Birmingham, highlighting the throwaway attitudes of today’s society. Objects hold resonance when imbued with human life and human life-stories.
This event allows the public to re-evaluate their relationship to concrete objects and question the values inherent in previously overlooked items – all set in sharp relief against the backdrop of the Bullring Shopping Centre.
